sun-up in the Cascade Pass

Apparently the windchill is supposed to drop to almost -40° by lunchtime.

The storm cleared off. It’s a beautiful, blue, deadly day.

Except for turning the steers out briefly to buck and kick in the snow while I mucked their stalls, I kept the animals in again.

    I’d like to know what part of the United States that you live in where the temperature today is “-20” degrees.

    Lake Placid, New York, in the High Peaks of the Adirondacks. At an elevation of 2000′ I like to say (though I can’t be sure) that my cows are the highest milking girls in New York State.
