Now It Begins

Thirty-mile-per-hour winds today and a windchill of forty below. It is currently -16° F.

My truck is dead.

Yes, of course the paddock water hydrant is also frozen again — but it hardly matters as I will keep all the animals in the barn for the day.

This cold front is supposed to be here on and off for a week. Next Thursday’s forecast is for thirty below zero before windchill. I am anxious. I will be taxed to keep everyone happy and safe in this cold, especially newborns.
