In a great piece of good news, I have a new helper this summer. Kyle is the son of my minister. He is 23, bright, and a natural with machines. He is unexpectedly at home and without a job, so available to work for me six hours a day, 2-3 days a week, between rain showers.
Kyle has proved to be a godsend. Although I like to mow, myself, being able to hire Kyle to mow has freed my time for other chores. (Since the summer list is six single-spaced typed pages, and includes items such as “paint the house,” this is a good thing.) He is someone to share the dismal tasks — we just finished mucking the deep bedding from the 10′ x 32′ sheep stall — and to be another pair of hands and eyes when I’m attempting anything heavy or tricky.
I’m excited to see how much we can get done by Labor Day.
