Hosting the big dinner and cocktail party for 65 went off beautifully last night, despite rain that drove everyone indoors. Much of its success was due to Lucy and her friend Anabell.
They have worked this annual party for about four years. However this summer suddenly they were not teens eating chips and chatting on the sidelines but full-fledged adults and partners in the enterprise. They set up dinner and drinks, refilled the ice bucket and the food platters, whisked away empties, and generally kept everything humming behind the scenes. They were a great team. I was very proud of them.
Maybe next year I can just turn over the lists to the children and attend as a guest myself.
