When I was finally free to work after lunch, I did all the math, measured the ground, set out stakes, rolled out a hose, and spray-painted the edge of the future garden. Then I picked up my spade to begin slicing into and removing the remaining weedy sods along the boulders of the wall.
The first plunge of my spade was directly into a nest of yellow jackets. Yeooow! Three stings on my neck as I dropped the spade and ran.
I picked up rocks for the rest of the afternoon.
(And, yes, I do see the weeds ominously starting up again.)
